Two More Food Observations

#1. Riley has mastered many skills, but slurping spaghetti isn't one them.

#2. Thing Riley Likes to Eat, continued:

Tuscan Chickpea Soup

We let her try a bite at dinner, and she kept going and going. Three whole baby servings. And then she tried to lick the bowl clean. (How can you tell when babies are full anyhow?)

On an unrelated note...

I've been so busy doting over Riley that I almost forgot to mention that Matt's mobiles are the featured exhibit right now at ddp gallery in Fayetteville, Arkansas. So stop by if you happen to be in the neighborhood. All you friends in Arkansas.

Not For Sale

With the big move approaching, we're de-cluttering and downsizing. My new best friend, craigslist, has helped me unload tons of stuff, from a too-big tv to an unused road bike to an old bread maker. Boy is it addictive. Just about everything's fair game, including the pile of used gift bags I posted tonight. (And yes, I've already had some takers.)

But you've got to draw the line somewhere. Like here, maybe?

Riley, by the way, has been an active participant in the packing process. Like pillaging piles, deconstructing stacks, and gnawing stuff to shreds.

I said active, not productive.

Someone's Too Big for Her Britches

Literally.

Last night we were out of clean pajamas, so we resorted to a onesie and some sweat pants. But wait—when did those pants become capris? Did they shrink in the wash?

Baby Mobile

There's a new kind of mobile around here, but it's got nothing to do with Matt this time. Nope, it's Riley—she's officially on the go. After weeks of successfully scooting sideways, backwards, and all around in circles, today, lured by a trail of cheerios, she finally figured out forward.

Yay!/Yikes!

Granted, it's not graceful. She claws forward on her stomach, propelled with traction from her bare feet. But hey, you gotta start somewhere.

Bliss

A pile of cheerios, a wall of books, and a big mess left in her wake. What more could a 7-month-old ask for?

Little Girl, Big Apple

Highlights from our New York trip last weekend:

We strolled through Central Park...

...New York wind blowing through our hair.

We visited a New York deli, where Riley got her first taste of hot mustard...

...and enjoyed it enough to fight mommy for the bottle.

Later, she dined on bottled water and cheerios...
...while the rest of us ate pizza. No fair! But at least there was tin foil and trash to play with.

And of course we visited Times Square and did other fun New York-y stuff.

Sadly, we forgot to take pictures of Matt's mobiles in Bloomingdale's (the reason for our trip). But they look great. Matt says there's nothing quite like seeing your artwork hanging over a Bloomie's makeup counter!

The Ups and Downs of Daylight Savings

The Up: We celebrated our extra hour of sunshine this evening with a picnic in the park. Chicken, roast potatoes, and spinach salad for Matt and me. And mashed peas and cheerios for Riley. Yum. And fun.

The Down: When's Riley's bedtime? We're not sure, and neither is she, making us all a little cranky...

But let's not end on a downer. Instead enjoy pictures of Riley picnicking!

Uh, a little help here?

The perils of backwards-only crawling.

Time to Baby Proof?

Exhibit A
Riley has mastered the pincer grasp, which means she can feed herself cheerios...and cardboard bits, and dust bunnies, and hair barrettes.

Exhibit B
Although she's not quite crawling, she somehow manages to entangled herself in cords. If it's not time to baby proof, it is time to go wireless.

Coming soon: pictures of our weekend in New York!
