So the very kind woman gave Riley a yellow one.
Riley and that balloon were inseparable (literally!) every waking moment of the next 36 hours.
Until it popped.
Since then, Riley's been mourning her loss. All day, she'd look at her empty palm, or point up to the balloon-less sky, and sadly ask, "Bloon?"
Who knew the death of a balloon could be so heartbreaking? (For all of us!?)

You need to get the mylar (sp?) balloons. I got will and Tayson one for Valentine's Day and it is still flying high...almost 3 weeks later.
oh! that is so sad!!! hannah has one of those small mylar balloons on a stick from the grocery store. after 2 years & 3 moves, it is still in one piece! although, it doesn't fly!
I'm TOTALLY bringing Riley a yellow balloon next time you come to Utah...
Good news! The nice people at Trader Joe's gave her another yellow balloon today. And yeah, she's equally infatuated with this one.
Balloons are fascinating for kids. Nathan always asks to get one when we go to the store. I never get one... but we still have some balloons from Alex's birthday back in September.
By the way, you're tagged. (see my blog.)
I'm so glad she got a replacement! Linus now refuses the free balloons at the grocery store because he's too devastated when they pop or fly away.
