Riley's Greatest Weakness

We just endured the Easter Weekend from Hell, which featured a toddler who's both discovered and mastered the fine art of meltdowns in just 48 short hours.

So we took her to the doctor today to find out if we can blame the crankiness on something besides toddlerhood.

Sure enough, she's got an ear infection and eczema.

So instead of leftover Easter candy, the poor girl's hopped up on amoxycillin.

To lighten the mood, Matt and I have been reciting one of our favorite lines from BBC's The Office.

(If you'd like to cut to the chase, it's the last six seconds.)

Ahhh, welcome to the toddler fits I guess huh? I'm not looking forward to it!

Taya has had eczema since almost the time she was born and I had heard two methods: bath them once a week, that's it. OR ... bath them every day, only using non-scented, super gentle soap (Trader Joe's maybe? - we found a good gentle brand for babies at our local organic store - Sprouts) - Aveeno is still too strong for Taya's skin. And after you bath them every day, rub them down with Aquafor within 2-3 min. after their bath. So this is what we try to do, and it works! I opted for more baths and less smelly (although now she doesn't even need it every day b/c it's all just kept at bay - but we do have to douse her in Cetaphil & Aquafor after every bath - and no scented/strong soaps for this girl! Oh yeah - and we have to use gentle/non-scented laundry detergent for her too.

Anyway, more than you wanted to know - but that eczema does stink, but is also maneable a lot of the time.

Good luck with the meltdowns!

Oh yeah - and I love the Office clip - we could definitely use that one too.
