This morning, I took her on a 4-mile run in a torrential downpour.
For lunch, I let her have a McDonald's double cheeseburger and two cookies.
Just when I was feeling like a slacker mom, a homeless guy waved at Riley, smiled at me, and cheerfully said, "Keep up the good work!"
Thanks Mr. Vagrant. I'll take all the validation I can get.

So true!
Some days are just like that. My kids only saving grace from fast food tonight was that nothing we drove by had a drive thru and I wasn't about to haul all the kids into anything!
I think that compliments from Homeless people are the most sinceire. You must have really earned it.
If you think about it, that man is probably a real people watcher, so he knows a good mom when he sees one.
Reading that kind of made me tear up, am I crazy? :) Nope, I mean, yes, AND you're a good writer.
You are hilarious! And you are a great mom, I remember you rocking her after a bath one night talking about how great motherhood is. I might cry just thinking about it :)
I love it! Thanks for the great post.
